New GPS Equipment handles Super Elevated Curves

“Our latest addition to our machine control fleet is a Cat PM201 Grinder with 2D and 3D controls. The 2D sonic tracers allows for high accuracy depth and slope control off of existing surfaces and string lines. With the addition of total station survey instruments, the grinder becomes able to grind to a 3D model with millimeter precision."

"This allows for the removal of existing longitudinal waves in the asphalt and the milling of complex transitions, such as super elevated curves. That, in turn, creates a smother base surface and reduces the amount of new asphalt needed to obtain the grades, slopes, and smoothness required.”
