Recent Construction and Excavation Projects

Here is a sampling of our recent projects showing the scope of our work and our dedication to overcoming any challenges put before us. The summaries also highlight how proactive we are, as a company, with pre-planning, scheduling and coordinating with all parties associated with each project.

• Portland Airport Runway Expansion

  

  Once more, we team up with the Port of Portland. This runway expansion project for the South Airfield Taxiway at the Portland International Airport will accommodate larger, heavier aircraft, plus a larger volume of cargo traffic with this $21M upgrade.

• Improvements to Hawthorne Avenue

  

  Municipalities, like the City of Salem, keep K&E crews busy. This two-year, $4.8M street widening and improvement project will affect 5,350 linear feet of Hawthorne Avenue NE and Hyacinth Street NE. Detention ponds, culverts and bridges are also part of the construction upgrade.

• Bonneville Power Substation Construction

  

  From blasting requiring two excavators and hammers to dealing with snow and freezing temperatures, this project kept our crew on their toes.

  Recent Projects

• Athletic Field Construction for OSU

  

  Another project with the Oregon State University (OSU). This time, we are providing the excavation services, site development and underground utility work for a new track & field complex giving the University’s sports program a real boost.

• Willamette River Bridge

  

  We managed the safety challenges of this project through constant communication between all parties and making sure that all required safety equipment was available at all times.

• Waste Water Treatment

  

  With the delay in permit acquisition by two months, K&E had to put this waste water treatment project in fast track scheduling to accomplish work in acceptable “dry weather” conditions.

• Intertie 2 Diversion Project

  

  By having a great working relationship with the Water Environmental Services and doing our due diligence with pre-planning, this sewer force main installation ran smoothly even with its varied challenges.

• Hillsboro Airport Construction Project

  

  Recently, we had the opportunity to perform the rehabilitation, grading and storm installation for the D Taxiway at the Hillsboro Airport. We served as general contractor as well as managed sub-contractors for electrical and paving.

• Kuebler Boulevard Road Expansion

  

  Even on a tight budget, the Oregon road expansion at SE Kuebler Boulevard turned out to be a great project for both K&E and the City of Salem.

• Highway 97 near Klamath Falls at Modoc Point

  

  Infrastructure roadwork and retaining wall construction in Oregon is part of K&E’s DNA. The company’s long history has given us the depth of experience to professionally manage traffic and complexity on any scale. This project, just North of Klamath Falls, included the widening of a 4.5 mile stretch of Highway 97.
